Traditionally, WAN management has been a challenge. For enterprises separating MPLS from the internet
zone in data centers was intricate. This approach isolated the management of MPLS and internet zones
making it difficult to apply similar standards and policy configurations on both these WAN connectivity
options in a dynamic application demand driven network deployment.

As a result of isolation there is no single person/vendor responsible for end to end networking
management and monitoring as it requires domain expertise and specific skillset to manage some
legacy network infrastructure.
