SNMP provides granular visibility to data of variables managed and organized in MIB \u00a0(Management Information Base). Three significant versions of SNMP have been developed and deployed. SNMPv1 is the original version of the protocol. More recent versions, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3, feature improvements in performance, flexibility and security. SNMP is a component of the\u00a0<a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Internet_Protocol_Suite\" rel=\"nofollow\">Internet Protocol Suite<\/a>\u00a0as defined by the\u00a0<a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Internet_Engineering_Task_Force\" rel=\"nofollow\">Internet Engineering Task Force<\/a>\u00a0(IETF). It consists of a set of\u00a0<a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Technical_standard\" rel=\"nofollow\">standards<\/a>\u00a0for network management, including an\u00a0<a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Application_layer\" rel=\"nofollow\">application layer<\/a>\u00a0protocol, a database\u00a0<a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Logical_schema\" rel=\"nofollow\">schema<\/a>, and a set of\u00a0<a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Data_object\" rel=\"nofollow\">data objects<\/a>.<sup><a class=\"external-link\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Simple_Network_Management_Protocol#cite_note-RFC_3411-2\" rel=\"nofollow\">[2]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>The SNMP protocol possess three important characteristics necessary for successful management solutions \u2013 reliability, flexibility and multilingual support.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"HowconfigureSNMP?-ConfiguringSNMPUsingCloudStation\"><strong>Configuring SNMP Using CloudStation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lavelle networks Cloudstation supports SNMP v2\/v3 to access network level information from the CloudPorts. The SNMP GET queries are supported and is limited to the interface MIB [IF-MIB]. However, this can be extended to other L2\/L3\/L4 MIBs as per requirement. The SNMP requests should be directed to the LAN interface IP(s) of the CloudPort. SNMP queries are supported over all available WAN encapsulation types. SNMP trap support is however minimal and is limited to interface state change. Follow the below steps to do a SNMP configuration using lavelle networks Cloudstation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note: SNMP set operations are not supported.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16570 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/lavellenetworks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/image2019-5-2_16-0-6.png\" alt=\"Snmp configuration Screen in Lavelle network's Solution.\" width=\"348\" height=\"249\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1) Navigate to Manage Section<\/p>\n<p>2) Click on CloudPort tab<\/p>\n<p>3) Click on the respective CloudPort to which SNMP configuration needs to be added<\/p>\n<p>4) Click on the Settings button in the CloudPort edit page<\/p>\n<p>5) Click on SNMP Configuration<\/p>\n<p>6) Configure the interface name, username, authentication type, authentication password, encryption type, encryption password<\/p>\n<p>7) Click on Save\/Update to save the changes.<\/p>\n<p>8) Click on Cancel to undo the changes<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SNMP profiles can be applied for two levels. The level on which the SNMP profile can be attached, and their priority is as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Site Level<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Site Profile Level<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>SNMP Profiles are created, configured and managed by network administrators. The network administrator can perform following actions in Encryption:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>View<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Search<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Create<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Edit<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Delete<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"HowconfigureSNMP?-View\"><strong>View<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To view the SNMP profiles, perform the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the browser, launch the CloudStation URL. The user is navigated to the CloudStation Login page.<\/li>\n<li>Key-in the valid credentials in the login page. The admin is navigated to Dashboard page.<\/li>\n<li>On Dashboard page, click Manage menu. The admin is displayed Provisions page.<\/li>\n<li>In Provisions page, click SNMP from Object Profiles section. A configuration row appears.<\/li>\n<li>In configuration row, perform the following: 3.4.1. Key-in the username in\u00a0<strong>Username\u00a0<\/strong>box.<\/li>\n<li>Select the required authentication type from\u00a0<strong>Authentication Type\u00a0<\/strong>dropdown. The available list of options is MD5 and SHA. By default, none is displayed.<\/li>\n<li>Key-in the authentication password in\u00a0<strong>Authentication Pass\u00a0<\/strong>box.<\/li>\n<li>Select the required encryption type from\u00a0<strong>Encryption Type\u00a0<\/strong>dropdown. The available list of options is AES and DES. By default, none is selected.<\/li>\n<li>Key-in the encryption password in\u00a0<strong>Encryption Pass\u00a0<\/strong>box.<\/li>\n<li>Click bin symbol to delete a configuration row.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Save SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>to create a SNMP profile with the specified details. The admin is navigated to SNMP page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"HowconfigureSNMP?-Edit\"><strong>Edit<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To edit a required SNMP profile, perform the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Perform the steps 1 and 2 of\u00a0<strong>Create SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>Profile.<\/li>\n<li>On\u00a0<strong>SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>page, click\u00a0<strong>SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>name from\u00a0<strong>Name\u00a0<\/strong>column. The admin is navigated to\u00a0<strong>Update SNMP Config\u00a0<\/strong>page.<\/li>\n<li>In\u00a0<strong>Update SNMP Config\u00a0<\/strong>page, perform the following:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Edit the required fields.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Update SNMP Config\u00a0<\/strong>to save changes for the required SNMP profile.
