SNMP is a widely used protocol in Network Management and network monitoring. SNMP provides granular visibility to data of variables managed and organized in MIB \u00a0(Management Information Base). Three significant versions of SNMP have been developed and deployed. SNMPv1 is the original version of the protocol. More recent versions, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3, feature improvements in performance, flexibility and security. SNMP is a component of the\u00a0Internet Protocol Suite<\/a>\u00a0as defined by the\u00a0Internet Engineering Task Force<\/a>\u00a0(IETF). It consists of a set of\u00a0standards<\/a>\u00a0for network management, including an\u00a0application layer<\/a>\u00a0protocol, a database\u00a0schema<\/a>, and a set of\u00a0data objects<\/a>.[2]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

The SNMP protocol possess three important characteristics necessary for successful management solutions \u2013 reliability, flexibility and multilingual support.<\/p>\n

Configuring SNMP Using CloudStation<\/strong><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Lavelle networks Cloudstation supports SNMP v2\/v3 to access network level information from the CloudPorts. The SNMP GET queries are supported and is limited to the interface MIB [IF-MIB]. However, this can be extended to other L2\/L3\/L4 MIBs as per requirement. The SNMP requests should be directed to the LAN interface IP(s) of the CloudPort. SNMP queries are supported over all available WAN encapsulation types. SNMP trap support is however minimal and is limited to interface state change. Follow the below steps to do a SNMP configuration using lavelle networks Cloudstation.<\/p>\n

Note: SNMP set operations are not supported.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Snmp<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1) Navigate to Manage Section<\/p>\n

2) Click on CloudPort tab<\/p>\n

3) Click on the respective CloudPort to which SNMP configuration needs to be added<\/p>\n

4) Click on the Settings button in the CloudPort edit page<\/p>\n

5) Click on SNMP Configuration<\/p>\n

6) Configure the interface name, username, authentication type, authentication password, encryption type, encryption password<\/p>\n

7) Click on Save\/Update to save the changes.<\/p>\n

8) Click on Cancel to undo the changes<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SNMP profiles can be applied for two levels. The level on which the SNMP profile can be attached, and their priority is as follows:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Site Level<\/em><\/li>\n
  2. Site Profile Level<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    SNMP Profiles are created, configured and managed by network administrators. The network administrator can perform following actions in Encryption:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • View<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Search<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Create<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Edit<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • Delete<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      To view the SNMP profiles, perform the following:<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Open the browser, launch the CloudStation URL. The user is navigated to the CloudStation Login page.<\/li>\n
      2. Key-in the valid credentials in the login page. The admin is navigated to Dashboard page.<\/li>\n
      3. On Dashboard page, click Manage menu. The admin is displayed Provisions page.<\/li>\n
      4. In Provisions page, click SNMP from Object Profiles section. The admin is displayed SNMP page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        The SNMP page displays a table containing information such as Name and Updated At.<\/p>\n

        Search<\/strong><\/h2>\n

         <\/p>\n

        In order to search a required SNMP profile, on SNMP page, key-in the name of the SNMP profile in the search box provided to search. If match exists, then that specific details of the SNMP profiles is displayed to the administrator.<\/p>\n

        To create a SNMP profile, perform the following:<\/p>\n

        1. Following the steps 1 to 4 performed of\u00a0View\u00a0<\/strong>SNMP profiles.<\/li>\n
        2. Click\u00a0Create SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>in\u00a0SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>The admin is navigated to\u00a0Create SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          3) In\u00a0SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>page, perform the following:<\/p>\n

            \n
          • Key-in the name of the SNMP in\u00a0SNMP name\u00a0<\/strong>box.<\/li>\n
          • Check\u00a0Show Password\u00a0<\/strong>to display password, if necessary.<\/li>\n
          • Click\u00a0+\u00a0<\/strong>symbol. A configuration row appears.<\/li>\n
          • In configuration row, perform the following: 3.4.1. Key-in the username in\u00a0Username\u00a0<\/strong>box.<\/li>\n
          • Select the required authentication type from\u00a0Authentication Type\u00a0<\/strong>dropdown. The available list of options is MD5 and SHA. By default, none is displayed.<\/li>\n
          • Key-in the authentication password in\u00a0Authentication Pass\u00a0<\/strong>box.<\/li>\n
          • Select the required encryption type from\u00a0Encryption Type\u00a0<\/strong>dropdown. The available list of options is AES and DES. By default, none is selected.<\/li>\n
          • Key-in the encryption password in\u00a0Encryption Pass\u00a0<\/strong>box.<\/li>\n
          • Click bin symbol to delete a configuration row.<\/li>\n
          • Click\u00a0Save SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>to create a SNMP profile with the specified details. An alert is displayed, and admin is navigated to\u00a0SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              To edit a required SNMP profile, perform the following:<\/p>\n

                \n
              1. Perform the steps 1 and 2 of\u00a0Create SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>Profile.<\/li>\n
              2. On\u00a0SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>page, click\u00a0SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>name from\u00a0Name\u00a0<\/strong>column. The admin is navigated to\u00a0Update SNMP Config\u00a0<\/strong>page.<\/li>\n
              3. In\u00a0Update SNMP Config\u00a0<\/strong>page, perform the following:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                  \n
                • Edit the required fields.<\/li>\n
                • Click\u00a0Update SNMP Config\u00a0<\/strong>to save changes for the required SNMP profile. An alert is displayed, and admin is navigated to\u00a0SNMP\u00a0<\/strong>page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                   <\/p>\n

                  To delete a required SNMP profile, on the SNMP page, click bin symbol from Action column in the table. That SNMP profile entry gets deleted from the table and an alert is displayed to the administrator.<\/p>\n

                  Attaching SNMP profile at Site Level<\/strong><\/h2>\n

                  To attach a SNMP profile at Site level, perform the following:<\/p>\n

                    \n
                  1. Click Manage menu on Dashboard page. The admin is navigated to Provisions page.<\/li>\n
                  2. In\u00a0Provisions\u00a0<\/strong>page, click\u00a0Sites\u00a0<\/strong>from\u00a0Connect and Provision\u00a0<\/strong>section. The admin is navigated to\u00a0Sites\u00a0<\/strong>page.<\/li>\n
                  3. In\u00a0Sites\u00a0<\/strong>page, click the required name of the site. The admin is navigated to\u00a0Edit Site\u00a0<\/strong>page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                    4. In\u00a0Edit Site\u00a0<\/strong>page, check\u00a0SNMP Config<\/strong>. A dropdown containing a list of\u00a0SNMP Profiles\u00a0<\/strong>is displayed. Select the required SNMP profile from the dropdown.<\/p>\n

                    To attach a SNMP profile at site profile level, perform the following:<\/p>\n

                    1. Click\u00a0Manage\u00a0<\/strong>menu on\u00a0Dashboard\u00a0<\/strong>page. The admin is navigated to\u00a0Provisions\u00a0<\/strong>page.<\/li>\n
                    2. In\u00a0Provisions\u00a0<\/strong>page, click\u00a0Sites\u00a0<\/strong>from\u00a0Object Profiles<\/strong>. The admin is navigated to\u00a0Site Profiles\u00a0<\/strong>page.<\/li>\n
                    3. In\u00a0Site Profiles\u00a0<\/strong>page, click the name of the\u00a0Site Profile\u00a0<\/strong>from\u00a0Profile Name\u00a0<\/strong>column. The admin is navigated to edit site profile page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
